Serving the Treasure Valley

Built for Idaho concrete, installed by a local company.

"Epoxy floor" has become the everyday shorthand for any coated garage floor. Epoxy is a well-established coating resin with a long track record, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's simply not the system family we've chosen to specialize in.

High Desert Coatings focuses on full-flake polyurea and polyaspartic systems — a modern alternative to traditional epoxy, generally chosen for faster cure and for UV-stable topcoat options. Which system is right for your concrete depends on the space, its condition and how you use it, so the honest answer comes from an on-site evaluation rather than a web page.

Why homeowners choose us

The benefits you actually feel underfoot.

The terminology, plainly

Epoxy, polyurea and polyaspartic are different coating resins. Homeowners often use "epoxy" to describe all of them.

What we install

Full-flake polyurea and polyaspartic systems for garages, RV garages, shops, patios, pool decks and basements.

Why we chose it

Fast cure supports efficient installation, and UV-stable topcoat options are available depending on the system selected.

Preparation matters most

Whichever resin is used, mechanical concrete preparation and proper surface profiling do the most for how a floor performs.

Not a big-box kit

Store-bought garage floor kits are a different product class from a professionally installed coating system.

An honest recommendation

If your concrete isn't a good candidate for a coating, we'll tell you that during the evaluation.

Our install process

A documented six-step process, start to finish.

  1. Step 1

    On-site evaluation

We look at your concrete and how you use the space, then recommend the appropriate system.

  2. Step 2

    Diamond grinding

Mechanical concrete preparation and proper surface profiling before anything is applied.

  3. Step 3

    Crack & surface repair

Cracks, pits and spalls are repaired and reground flush.

  4. Step 4

    Pigmented basecoat

A pigmented basecoat applied edge-to-edge for uniform color and coverage.

  5. Step 5

    Full-flake broadcast

Flake is broadcast into the basecoat for a full, consistent finish.

  6. Step 6

    Clear topcoat

A clear topcoat locks in the flake and creates the finished, easy-clean surface.

Frequently asked

Questions Boise homeowners ask us.

Do you install epoxy floors?+

We specialize in full-flake polyurea and polyaspartic systems rather than marketing epoxy as a separate service. If you searched for epoxy flooring, you're in the right place — most people mean a coated garage floor, and that's exactly what we install.

Is one better than the other?+

They're different resin families with different characteristics, and the right choice depends on your concrete, the space and the conditions. Rather than make blanket claims, we recommend a system after seeing the floor in person.

What about hardware-store epoxy kits?+

Those kits are a different product class from a professionally installed system, and they generally skip mechanical concrete preparation. Preparation is where most of the long-term performance comes from.

What does a full-flake system look like?+

A pigmented basecoat with color flake broadcast into it, sealed with a clear topcoat. It gives a consistent, textured, easy-to-clean finish and hides minor imperfections in the concrete.

How do I find out what my garage needs?+

Request an on-site evaluation. We'll look at your concrete, talk through options, and send a clear written estimate with the system and expected schedule.
